Greetings all and a very happy New Year! 2021 was certainly another unforgettable year which, yet again, threw us all some curveballs and challenges. However, we're deeply grateful for the many opportunities, blessings and connections that 2021 brought us as well. We can’t wait to see what 2022 has in store for The Cornerstone Creative and our community.
Some highlights from The Cornerstone Creative's 2021
We ran our first full year of afterschool programs. We’ve loved getting to know more local teens, and fine tuning our program’s curriculum
7 volunteers jumped in this year to support both the afterschool program and our community classes
Our partnership with Straight Ahead has continued to deepen and grow. Our work and relationships with the Straight2Work group has been such a highlight this year
We reached our One Year fundraising goal, thanks to the incredible generosity of many of you!!
We were awarded 7 new grants which will significantly support our program’s sustainability and operating costs this year
Currently Enrolling: Afterschool Mentorship Program
We are currently enrolling for our Winter/Spring after school session, beginning the first week in February! We have openings available for our 13-15 year-old group as well as our group of 16 to 18/Seniors in High School. Do you know a teen in Gloucester who might benefit from a weekly woodworking mentorship program? Our after-school program provides hands-on learning in a positive and supportive environment for local youth. We offer this 4-month program free of charge. Click here to apply!
WHO:
“Younger” High School group: youth ages 13-15
“Older” High School group: youth age 16 - 18/seniors
WHAT: A free, weekly, afterschool, woodworking and mentorship program at The Cornerstone Creative.
WHERE:The Cornerstone Creative workshop on Beach Court in Gloucester, MA.
WHY:We exist to be a place of safety for youth in Gloucester where personal growth can take place by building something new, restoring something old, creating something from nothing, dreaming big and working hard. We hope to foster skills such as problem solving. creativity, and attention to detail, while cultivating a space for collaboration and confidence-building. Teens have the opportunity to build positive relationships with peers and mentors in a supportive, laid-back and fun environment.
WHEN: February - June, 2022.

"Older" HS Group- Thursdays 3:30-5:30pm
Community Class Schedule
Our community class schedule for the first half of 2022 is off to a strong start! We’re excited to offer some new DIY projects, and bring back a few of the fan favorites of 2021. You can sign up here for February and March.

Our monthly adult community classes are an opportunity for community members to visit the shop, learn the basics of woodworking and have fun with others building the project of the month! All classes are on Mondays, and they run from 6:00-8:00pm. Class fees directly support and further the mission of The Cornerstone Creative Youth Mentorship Program!
Girl’s Group
We're excited to start offering a once-monthly class just for high school girls in early Spring!
